A third-year student of the Information Technologies study programme at the University College “CEPS – Center for Business Studies” Kiseljak, Haris Kadić, spent the summer semester of the academic year within the Erasmus+ programme at the partner institution Istanbul Altinbas University in the Republic of Turkey. Haris is also the sixth CEPS student to gain Erasmus experience at this higher education institution, which confirms the successful and continuous cooperation between CEPS and Altinbas University. During the exchange, Haris attended courses included in the study plan for the summer semester, studying in an international academic environment together with students from different countries. Below, we present Haris’s impressions of the Erasmus+ mobility and his experience of studying in the Republic of Turkey.
Haris: “During my Erasmus+ exchange, I spent three months studying at Altınbaş University in Istanbul. This experience gave me the opportunity to become familiar with a different educational system, make new friendships with students from various countries, and live in one of the most fascinating cities in the world. I would especially highlight the kindness and support of the university staff and professors, who were always ready to help. The international environment made studying even more interesting, while living in the historic district of Fatih allowed me to experience Istanbul from the perspective of its residents. I used my free time to visit landmarks such as Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace, the Grand Bazaar, and the Galata Tower, as well as to explore both the European and Asian sides of the city. I was particularly impressed by the hospitality of the local people and the richness of Turkish culture, tradition, and gastronomy. The Erasmus+ exchange helped me become more independent, improve my knowledge, and meet people from different cultures. This was an invaluable experience that I would recommend to every student who wishes to study in an international environment. I am grateful to Altınbaş University and the Erasmus+ programme for providing me with this valuable experience, which I would recommend to any student considering studying abroad.”
