As part of the ERASMUS+ mobility program, a first year physiotherapy student at CEPS, Amna Saburović, spent two months on a professional internship at the Bjelovar General Hospital, in cooperation with the partner institution Bjelovar University of Applied Sciences. Student did her internship at the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, where she had the opportunity to get acquainted with working in a clinical environment and gain new experiences important for her future professional development. ERASMUS+ mobility allows students to develop their knowledge and skills through practical work, but also to get to know new environments, colleagues and ways of working. Amna shares her experience below:
My Erasmus internship began on June 1, 2026 at the Bjelovar General Hospital, an institution where I not only acquired medical skills, but also learned the deepest essence of the proffesion to which I dedicated myself. Although the primary part of my schedule was physiatry, thanks to the collegiality of the departments management, I was able to tour key segments of the institution: childrens physiotherapy, surgery, orthopedics, internal medicine and the Department of Palliative Care.
Entering the hospital at the age of twenty and taking responsibility for patients of various age groups, from pediatric to geriatric, was a special professional experience for me. Every health condition, every pain, and every human fate I faced were important to my mind and conscience and worthy of special attention. Being a participant in the process of treating patients, providing a supportive hand, left an indelible mark on my personality.
I would like to express my deepest respect to the entire medical team. My sincere gratitude goes to my boss Sanja for the breadth and trust she has shown me, as well as to my mentors Matea and Ivana. Thank you for answering every academic question I have with impeccable expertise, but also with human warmth that cannot be learned from a book. I am leaving Bjelovar with invaluable medical knowledge, but also with one firm and lasting promise: throughout my entire professional life, every day without exception, I will strive to be that relentless, warm light that patients desperately need in their most difficult moments.
