In the period from 26 to 30 May, within the framework of the ERASMUS+ project 1FUTURE , the teaching staff of the University College “CEPS” from Kiseljak , Proffesor Hamza Šehović and Lecturer Stjepan Stanić, participated in training at the University for Sustainable Development Eberswalde . The University for Sustainable Development Eberswalde was founded in 1830. At this university, sustainability is practiced and jointly shaped through teaching, research and administration. Applicable solutions are developed aimed at the sustainable connection of society and the environment.
During their stay, CEPS teaching staff had the opportunity to participate in lectures, workshops and assignments that are part of the educational process at this higher education institution. During the visit, CEPSstaff met Franziska Rottig, project coordinator and research assistant at the University for Sustainable Development Eberswalde. Franziska introduced CEPS staff to the practices applied at her home higher education institution. Sustainability at Eberswalde is practiced in all aspects of the institution’s work – from the building itself and the courtyard, through the teaching process to the student canteen. The environmental awareness of students and staff at the University of Eberswalde is indeed at a very high level.
In addition to Franziska, the CEPSteaching staff was also hosted by Prof. Dr. Claudia Brözel. Professor Brözel is a team member at the Department of Sustainable Economy at the University for Sustainable Development Eberswalde. During their stay, the participants had the opportunity to participate in workshops and lectures organized by Prof. Brözel, on the topic of social entrepreneurship in tourism. Part of the workshop included meeting and interacting with entrepreneurs from around the world, who presented their sustainable practices.
One of the entrepreneurs who shared his experience was Etienne Salborn, founder of SINA (Social Innovation Academy). Etienne Salborn has been living in Africa for almost 20 years, where he has helped a large number of children in the education process, but also later, in starting their own businesses to become independent. SINA operates in eight African countries, and the goal is to establish 800 businesses and employ 10,000 people across the continent by 2029. In addition to this initiative, numerous other positive plans were presented, as well as examples of successful existing companies. This mobility enabled the acquisition of new knowledge, skills and perspectives on sustainability. The acquired knowledge will be applied at CEPS by introducing sustainable practices into the educational process.
