As part of the ERASMUS+ project SKILL2SUSTAIN, a five day training for teaching staff from the Western Balkans was successfully implemented, which was held at the partner institution the University of Novi Sad in the period from June 22 to 26, 2026. At the training in front of the University College "CEPS - Center for Business Studies" Kiseljak participated Lecturer Semir Oglečevac, Lecturer Dario Marušić and Lecturer Stjepan Stanić.
During the program, the focus was on improving the research competencies of the teaching staff through work on current topics of sustainable development and infrastructure. As part of the five day research task, the state of wastewater treatment plants in Bosnia and Herzegovina was analyzed. The research covered the issues of the number and arrangement of existing facilities, the degree of connection of the population to wastewater treatment systems, as well as the analysis of the regulatory framework at the state and entity level in comparison with the requirements of the European Union. The position of Bosnia and Herzegovina in relation to obligations in the process of European integration in the field of waste water management was also considered.
In addition to the regulatory aspect, the engineering segment of the system was also analyzed, including mechanical equipment, power systems and the level of automation, where the need for further modernization, improvement of energy efficiency and the introduction of more advanced monitoring and management systems was highlighted. This training represents an important contribution to strengthening the competencies of teaching staff and developing a research approach within the SKILL2SUSTAIN project.
